Hi, this means you’ve picked no flavor in the Distribution Wizard so you have an empty wiki.

See https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Documentation/UserGuide/Features/DistributionWizard#HUserInterface

What you can do now is either:

  1. reinstall
  2. using the Extension Manager to install the XWiki Standard Flavor. See https://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Extension%20Manager%20Application

Hope it helps

Could you explain why you picked the empty flavor and what we could do to improve the situation so that users don’t do something they don’t expect?

Would this issue fix the problem you had http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-17251 ?

Thanks

Thank you for your response. And i think so this is caused due to there is no proper installation steps provided in your page.If its possible provide some demo videos for proper installation.

Hope You are doing Great. There is no proper Guide Lines for installation and setup. If possible kindly provide a clear demo video for Installation on your site. Hope that might reduce this situation from user side. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for the idea but why would we need a video inside XWiki to learn how to use it? This would clearly means it’s a big fail since if it needs a video to know how to use it then it means it’s too complex. It’s supposed to be obvious. We cannot provide a video for each single click you have to do in xwiki!

And BTW we already have documentation (as I pointed out in my first reply above), it’s just that you didn’t read it (which is understandable). And we expect that all users won’t read it, this is why I 'm asking you to let us know what was the problem you faced and why you got something you didn’t expect.

Could you let me know exactly what went through your head and on which screen of the wizard so that we can find out what to improve?

Thanks a lot!

I wonder if you were not hit by https://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-16967

Why version of XWiki did you use? And were you on Tomcat?

Hi,

“Hi, this means you’ve picked no flavor in the Distribution Wizard so you have an empty wiki.”

I have had the above problem.

For me this occurred because I was given the task of replicating the layout a previously set up xWiki by a colleague and I was unsure as to what flavour to install as i didn’t know what flavour the existing xWiki was using and wasn’t sure how to find out.

In retrospect, I imagine it was probably the standard one.

Upon searchin for a way to resolve theis probem to this, I found this page of documentation
https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Documentation/AdminGuide/EmptyWiki

I noticed this as a potential solution:

============================================================================
### XIP Package

Since 9.5 A XIP package is offered containing an offline extension repository with all the extensions making the Standard Flavor.

This is actually a zip file containing the required XWiki extensions for both the main wiki and subwikis, in the same format as the one of the local extensions repository. It allows the Distribution Wizard to find the extensions locally instead of getting them online and is thus suited for offline installations of XWiki.

**** download it (use the exact same version of the XIP package as the version of XWiki you have)***
**** Unzip it (rename it to .zip if your zip tool does not recognize it) in the folder /extension/repository (if you get complains about already existing files don’t overwrite them)***
**** Make sure the user running XWiki has the permissions to write to these unzipped files***
**** Restart XWiki if it was running***
**** Resume standard installation, this time it will find the flavor locally***

When i clicked the link i was taken the page to download 13.10.9 as the latest long term support version.

My questions are:

Is this still a suggested solution or would i be better trying another method?

and is there a location from which i can download the XIP version 13.10.7 as i see the docuemntation states that it must be the from exact same distribution?

thanks
